Background
The Z4 was first introduced in 2006 as a replacement for the Z3. It was designed by Chris Bangle, who was also responsible for the design of other BMW models such as the 7 Series and the X5. Under the hood, the Sport Coupe features a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine that produces 265 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque. It was available either as a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to its rear-wheel drive, sport-tuned suspension and advanced traction control, the car's handling and performance are exceptional. The 3.0 SI Sport Coupe also features a sport-tuned suspension, which includes stiffer springs and shocks, larger anti-roll bars, and a limited-slip differential. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph. With a surprisingly spacious boot, the Z4 is pretty practical, too.
The Vehicle
This is a manual six-speed Z4 3.0 Si Sport Coupe from 2007, which dons Sapphire black metallic paintwork with full cream Nappa interior. This vehicle is in great nick inside and out and has ticked up a modest 58,000 miles on the odometer. The engine is a straight six that produces 265 BHP and it is fairly economical, able to achieve 34 MPG. This car has had two previous keepers; it comes with a complete service history and its date of registration is 11/06/2007. This motor comes with a fair few added extras, including: ISOFIX, air-conditioning, dynamic traction control (DTC), ABS brakes, PAS, electric windows and mirrors, and auto headlights. It also has remote central locking (alarm/immobiliser), a retractable boot cover, a high mounted boot stop light, front fog lights, plus a twin exhaust and it sits on black, 18-inch, multi-spoke alloys. All electrics appear to be operational and the car drives well. The only evidence of wear on the inside is to the driver’s bolster and there is a leak noted on the windscreen washer bottle. Apart from those minor imperfections, everything else is tidy.
On the Outside
The paintwork on this looks sharp all the way round, particularly when considering that it’s the best part of 16 years old. The exterior is sleek and aerodynamic, with a long hood, short overhangs, and a low-slung stance. It features BMW's signature kidney grille, which is flanked by auto headlights and fog lights. The rear of the vehicle features a high mounted boot stop light and it has a sculpted rear bumper with aesthetically integrated dual exhaust pipes. The cherry on this deliciously sporty cake is the black 18-inch, multi- spoke alloys with Goodyear and Pirelli tyres. The rims look to be scuff free and in sound condition. The paintwork, rubber seals and coachwork seem pretty faultless and the panel gaps look nice and tight, which shows how well this car has been looked after.
On the Inside
The cabin features cream leather-upholstery and a silver dash board, which is in very good condition. It’s luxurious and driver-focused cockpit is largely due to the thoughtfully designed and easy-to-read instrumentation, the cream heated leather electric memory sports seats and the intuitively placed controls. The sporty accents are a lovely feature, like the three-spoke, M Sport multi-function leather steering wheel. The car also comes with added extras such as a sport button, CD stereo and auto wipers. In addition, it has a trip computer, airbags, chrome BMW kick plates, gear knob, leather handbrake and floor mats.
The sophisticated climate control system offers automatic temperature control and individual settings for the driver and passenger.
Underneath
The Sport Coupe is equipped with a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine which produces 265 horsepower. Paired with a six-speed manual transmission, the engine features BMW's double VANOS variable valve timing system which improves the combustion process and optimises the power output in order to enhance performance. To ensure optimal performance and fuel efficiency, the engine is equipped with advanced features such as electronic throttle control, a high-precision fuel injection system, and a dynamic stability control system. Being rear-wheel drive means the car provides a more responsive and engaging driving experience. Despite the smattering of grime, the underside looks tidy, with no obvious signs of rust or corrosion, though the windscreen washer bottle appears to be leaking. The integrity of the chassis appears to be sound and everything looks to be in its right and proper place.
History Highlights
The car comes with an active MoT, which expires in February next year. To pass its MoT last month, it looks as if the owner carried out some work to the front exhaust silencer, as the flange bolts corroded. The offside windscreen wiper was replaced and it had some remedial work to the parking brake carried out. The car benefited from a full service at 58,948 miles as per the history book stamp 27/02/2023. Another major history highlight is the common ABS pump failure having been replaced and the water pump replaced while the car was being maintained by specialist company Deutsch Tech from 2015-2021.
What We Think
The Z4 is great to drive at the best of times, but the Sports Coupe in particular has sharp handling and a well-balanced chassis. The design is timeless, practical yet sporty, and unquestionably classy. The six-cylinder 3.0-litre models maintain significant appeal and is surely set to be a classic of the future. As such, we think a prospective buyer will need to part with somewhere between £10,000 to £15,000 to take this car away.

BORING, but IMPORTANT: Please note that whilst we at The Market always aim to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available, we cannot claim they are perfect analyses of any of the vehicles for sale. We offer far greater opportunity for bidders to view, or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding than traditional auctions, and we always encourage bidders to take advantage of this. We do take a good look at those vehicles which are delivered to our premises for sale, but this only results in our unbiased personal observations, not those of a qualified inspector or other professional, or the result of a long test drive.
Also, localised paint repairs are common with collectable and classic cars and if they have been professionally carried out then they may be impossible to detect, even if we see the car in person. So, unless we state otherwise, please assume that any vehicle could have had remedial bodywork at some point in its life.
Additionally, please note that most of the videos on our site have been recorded using basic cameras which often result in 'average' sound quality; in particular, engines and exhausts notes can sound a little different to how they are in reality.
Please note that this is sold as seen (Caveat Emptor) and that, as is normal for used goods bought at auction, a return policy does not apply. See our FAQs for more info, and feel free to inspect any vehicle as much as you wish.
