2000 BENTLEY Arnage Stretch Limousine

The Bentley Arnage is a full-size luxury car manufactured by Bentley from 1998 to 2009. The Arnage’s sibling is the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph. Following a boost in sales in the late 1980s, parent company Vickers decided to develop a model to replace the outgoing Silver Spirit/Mulsanne, the two cars were extremely similar to each other, and the Arnage/Silver Seraph was the first entirely new design for each brand since 1980.

The Vehicle

Bentley and Rolls-Royce together considered a number of engines to power the Arnage and Silver Seraph, including the GM Premium V, and the Mercedes-Benz M119, before ultimately selecting V8s from BMW. The Arnage was powered by a BMW M62 V8 with a twin-turbo setup engineered by the world-renowned tuners over at Cosworth.

On the Outside

The black exterior to this Arnage presents nicely aside from a problem area or two. The black paint does show hairline scratches scattered here and there around the vehicle’s massive exterior. There are some sizable cracks in the paint along the roof’s crease line. Furthermore, most of the Bentley insignias around the car are missing. The glass around the car is clear with no cracks, and the chrome is straight without any wrinkles. The wheels are clean with no major curb rash, and the tires appear to have a decent amount of tread left even though we always recommend a new set. Overall, this Arnage has a mostly clean exterior, but the cracks in the paint on the roof must be dealt with.

On the Inside

This Arnage’s stretched interior features a wonderful range of different browns to add wonderful pops of color throughout the inside. The light tan leather seats could use a scrubbing, but for the most part they are in good condition. The carpets up front show very little wear and tear, and all lay flat in their respective positions. In the rear compartment, a protective carpet has been thrown down to protect the original mats, and while it has done its job effectively, it does not lay totally flat. It appears that a former owner added in an aftermarket Alpine stereo system for a touch of modern convenience. Wood used in the rear compartment has been treated nicely, and the two bench seats in the rear compartment are in fantastic condition. The cream leather headliner up above hangs tightly and has almost no stains. It's easy to see that the interior of this Arnage has been excellently preserved.

Aside from the massive black engine covers, there isn't much to look at under the hood of this Bentley. The M62 is a naturally aspirated aluminum block V8 from BMW built between 1995 and 2005. It features a single row timing chain, VANOS variable valve timing, and four valves per cylinder.

History Highlights

This vehicle is sold with limited historical documentation. The seller also reports to us that the vehicle runs and drives.

What We Think

The Bentley Arnage was a significant vehicle for both Bentley and Rolls-Royce. The Arnage was Bentley’s first major steps in differentiating their design language from Rolls-Royce after an almost 60-year relationship of building the same cars together with Rolls-Royce, separately. Critics of the time adored the car for its performance and executive styling but were astounded by the price. This specific Arnage is in good condition, barring a section of the roof that should probably be dealt with immediately after acquiring the car. However, once the roof is back in action, the rest of the Arnage is ready to stop any show that has enough space for the vehicle. In the grand scheme of things, one area in need of TLC shouldn’t scare anyone off, which is why we’re confident that this 2000 Bentley Arnage Limousine will hit its $15,000 - $30,000 estimate.

Bidders MUST ensure they are aware of the registration situation of a car in auction, and whether it will be possible to export/register a vehicle in their country BEFORE they bid.

All vehicles MUST BE COLLECTED WITHIN 7-DAYS of the auction end. Storage fees of £180 + VAT apply (per week) thereafter without exception.

If needed, Footman James classic car insurance and Classic Concierge offer storage can offer you options, plus we have a list of contacts who can help with transport and shipping both domestic and international.

BORING, but IMPORTANT: Please note that whilst we at The Market always aim to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available, we cannot claim they are perfect analyses of any of the vehicles for sale. We offer far greater opportunity for bidders to view, or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding than traditional auctions, and we always encourage bidders to take advantage of this. We do take a good look at those vehicles which are delivered to our premises for sale, but this only results in our unbiased personal observations, not those of a qualified inspector or other professional, or the result of a long test drive.

Also, localised paint repairs are common with collectable and classic cars and if they have been professionally carried out then they may be impossible to detect, even if we see the car in person. So, unless we state otherwise, please assume that any vehicle could have had remedial bodywork at some point in its life.

Additionally, please note that most of the videos on our site have been recorded using basic cameras which often result in 'average' sound quality; in particular, engines and exhausts notes can sound a little different to how they are in reality.

Please note that this is sold as seen (Caveat Emptor) and that, as is normal for used goods bought at auction, a return policy does not apply. See our FAQs for more info, and feel free to inspect any vehicle as much as you wish.
